Abbeyfield –adds life to years

Abbeyfield exists to make older people’s lives easier and more fulfilling. Since 1956 Abbeyfield volunteers and staff have worked tirelessly to provide housing, support and companionship to older people in their communities.

Abbeyfield residents enjoy life all the more because they know that the people who support them are doing this demanding work because they believe older people belong at the heart of their communities.

What does Abbeyfield provide?

Sheltered Housing

There are more than 700 houses in the UK. The house in Great Missenden is one such house. Here residents find the privacy and security they seek when managing alone in their own home has become a burden. They come and go as they please, receive visitors and enjoy two good meals a day. They are free from the worries of maintaining a house and garden, paying bills and dealing with loneliness. At the centre of these homes is the manager who is employed to ensure that the house is comfortable and safe, and that the meals are nutritious and enjoyable. Tel 01494 865026

Care Homes

There are eighty care homes that provide 24 –hour personal care for residents who are too frail to live in supported sheltered housing.

Staff provide care for residents, under supervision of a professional manager, and work to achieve a level of care that far exceeds the standards set by the Government. Pratt House in Amersham is a  Abbeyfield Care Home. Tel 01494 722940

Nursing Care

We are very fortunate in Great Missenden because Abbeyfield operate only two Nursing Care Homes and our local one is close bye in Halton near Wendover It is  Abbeyfield Leonard Pulham Tel 01296 625188
